Collusion
There’s a lot of talk in news and around the web these days about the supposed threat of poker online cheating and collusion. The discovery of hackers with software that can expose opponents cards and insider maneuvers meant to trick the little guy out of their cash have become a rash over the public eye, to the point that many people who don’t know much about poker to begin with believe it is a corrupt system, or at least one open to fraudulence and attack. For the most part, though, online poker seems quite safe. Hackers proceeding in this way and caught and dealt with. Most online games are covered with enough surveillance and security that the average player shouldn’t worry too much about such threats. A more common threat, and yet still one that is under the watchful eye of most proprietors, is the act of collusion, or multiple poker players sharing information to get an advantage over their opponents. Through the internet players at the same table who are friends might share cards over IM or email, helping each other to the win. Via screenshots and bad patterns and other watchful systems, even these kinds of bad practices are often caught up with. Avoiding involving yourself in such is the best way to stay for off from the hook.
