			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>All over the world, medical professionals continue their search for simpler, safer, more effective tools for the detection of tumors, which has driven the need to develop <a href="http://www.medwow.com/used-ultrasound-diagnostic-equipment/243.med">ultrasound elastography</a> applications. This goal is fueled by a growing body of evidence signifying that lesions can be characterized more rapidly, and with a higher degree of accuracy, when <a href="http://used-medicalequipmentblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/uses-for-ultrasound-elastography.html">ultrasound elastography</a> is included into the routine patient-examination procedure.</p>
<p>An important characteristic of tissue is its elasticity. Elasticity can be affected by aging or by inflammation, and it can also be affected by malignancy. The ability to visualize changes in that elasticity is very useful in diagnosing cancer, as supporters of <b>diagnostic ultrasound elastography</b> have found.</p>
<p>Hitachi Medical Systems is among the few vendors marketing an <b>ultrasound elastography</b> application in the United States. The company&#8217;s signature offering in that sector is known as the Real-time Tissue Elastography (HI-RTE) system. Detection of tumors using HI-RTE is a relatively straightforward process: one simply positions the ultrasound transducer over the tissue targeted for evaluation and gently applies downward pressure to compress it. The HI-RTE ultrasound elastography then measures the amount of strain and calculates relative tissue elasticity, which is displayed as a color overlay on a standard B-mode image. Abnormal tissue is stiffer (or less elastic) than normal tissue. The ultrasound elastography application system gauges the differences and paints the former in blue and the latter in red or green.</p>
<p>The <i>Hitachi HI-RTE</i> is basically an add-on module for the company&#8217;s <b>HI VISION 900 ultrasound platform</b>. It uses what Hitachi calls an Extended Combined Autocorrelation Method, or ECAM, algorithm to produce the ultrasound elastography image. This algorithm performs a 2D correlation in both axial and lateral directions. Hitachi says that this overcomes the problem of sideslip and improves the accuracy of the strain image.</p>

Why would wind turbines use permanent magnet motors when no other large turbine generators do. Oh you must be talking about those micro-watt ones you put out in your backyard. Let&#8217;s continue to build those coal power plants that destroy the landscape, pollute our streams, spew lead, mercury and other toxic metals on everyone else at no cost to the companies who do the mining and spewing. I am old enough to remember hearing that the demise of the U.S. chemical industry was imminent if they had to quit dumping toxic chemicals into the atmosphere, lakes and streams when the EPA was formed. It never happened and our economy will continue to grow even if a carbon tax is imposed to begin to reduce this ridiculous dependence on fossil fuels simply because that is what was done in the past. These technologies are already in use and have been for years and are available for widespread deployment economically all over the country. This solves the problem for intermittent energy sources such as wind and solar and at a price about the same as coal with almost no carbon footprint. Over time energy intensive industries such as chemical and fertilizer manufacturing, aluminum, bio-fuel and any other energy intensive industry will move to areas such as the central U.S. where cheap <a href="http://www.mywindpowersystem.com/">wind power</a> is available. <p>Mesothelioma patients have historically had a bleak outlook, but doctors have recently made progress. There are problems with all three. Patients with mesothelioma have not responded well to traditional radiation therapy. As with radiation, research is going toward controlling the physical location of the treatment with emphasis on the pleural cavity. </p>
<p>Many advanced techniques in cancer treatment are tried on mesothelioma patients because of its high fatality rate. These include biologic therapy such as the agent interleukin 2 and anti-angiogenesis drugs such as thalidomide. Pemetrexed (Alimta) is a new drug that has shown results in extending life.</p>
<p>Considered by oncologists is where the tumor is located, what stage the mesothelioma is in, and the age and health of the patient. Two therapies that are extremely cutting-edge in fighting cancer are called photodynamic and gene therapy.
